Weather in October
The October weather in Rovinj is mainly dominated by autumn sunshine and very mild conditions. You’ll probably see some showers but that won’t spoil your trip to this pretty coastal resort. Rovinj enjoys mild and even warm days in this autumn month. The average temperature is a pleasant 20°C. On colder days it may fall below 13°C and you’ll need a sweater or a coat. The sun will shine for up to seven hours during October, which is great for mainland Europe, and doesn’t set until 18:45 at the beginning of the month.
The Croatian Kuna is the currency of Croatia. The currency code for Kuna is HRK, and the currency symbol is kn.
The exchange rate is around 7,6 kn for 1 EUR. You can exchange currency at many places in Rovinj: exchange offices, banks, hotel receptions.
ATM machines are also easily accessible; near every bank, at prominent places in town, and at many hotels. ATM machines support different languages, so they are easy to operate.
Croatia is considered a very homogeneous country, with more than 96% of the population speaking Croatian (hrvatski), the official language. Most of the locals are fluent in English and Italian and easily converse in the other foreign languages as well.

Like most states in Europe, Summer (Daylight-Saving) Time is observed in Rovinj, where the time is shifted forward by 1 hour; 2 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+2). At the end of October, the time in Rovinj is shifted back by 1 hour to Central European Time (CET) or (GMT+1)
Shops are generally open between the hours of 09:00 – 21:00. Don’t expect to find large shopping malls in Rovinj, or high end brands. You’ll find small, artisan shops selling handmade jewellery, interesting clothes, artworks, and souvenirs. Large supermarkets are located at the entrance of the town, on a road to Bale. In fact, you’ll find here all large supermarkets – Konzum, Lidl, and Plodine; Jysk, a Danish retail store selling household goods; DM, a drugstore selling toiletries, and alike. Rovinj’s green and fish market is located at the northern part of the old town, not far from the Valdibora parking area. Banking hours are between the hours of 09:30 – 16:00. Government offices are closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
Smoking is not permitted in hospitals/clinics, airports, public lifts and toilets, air-conditioned restaurants, public transport, government premises, shopping complexes and private spaces with central air-conditioning.
